Introduction: Ellen Chlumecky

I am from Chicago, IL. I am an enormous Blackhawks fan. I have been Blackhawks since I was about three years old. My father and I have always had a passion for hockey. We would go to any hockey game or practice throughout the course of my life. In addition to being a Blackhawks fan, I am Chicago White Sox, Bulls, Bears, and a Texas A&M fan. I have played soccer, volleyball, and tennis but hockey has always been my first love. My dream career would be to work for the public relations team for the Chicago Blackhawks or another NHL team.

My favorite male athlete is Jonathan Toews. He is the captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. He is my favorite player for a myriad of reasons: he is a talented athlete, passionate about hockey, a true leader, and one of the youngest captains in the league. Since he’s joined the team, his leadership has led the team to two Stanley Cups. Toews is not only a great forward, he also knows how to play great defense as well. He is a great two-way player. He’s been working his tail off since he started hockey at a young age. He is one of my role models because he has the drive and the mentality of someone who will do anything to win.

My favorite female athlete is Shawn Johnson. She became a favorite of mine in the 2008 Olympics when she placed first in balance beam and team and placed second in all-around and floor exercise. Similar to Jonathan Toews, Shawn is just a phenomenal athlete. She puts her heart and soul into everything she does. Whether she’s on Dancing with the Stars or on Celebrity Apprentice, she beams passion and spirit. It’s hard not to be amazed by her athleticism, whether it’s on the beam, on the mat, or even on the dance floor. She is one of my role models because she always excretes confidence and it seems as if pressure never gets to her. Even though she is retired, I still always look forward to seeing her in any events.
