This article discusses the tremendous impact Michael Jordan
has had on not only the sports field but the world as a whole. He’s not only
one of the greatest basketball players ever; he is also one of the greatest
brands ever known. There is very little debate on whether or not he’s the best
basketball player who ever lived, it’s ultimately accepted.
He wasn’t just an athlete. He was a businessman, and a good
one at that. He took an active role in all of his sponsorships. He didn’t want
to just be a face with no voice in his endeavors. He wanted to have a voice in
his sponsorships. People took him seriously and saw him as professional and indestructible.
He made a strong impact on and off the court.
The article combined all of the Jordan-influenced
businesses. These businesses included: videos, books, cologne, Hanes underwear,
and what he contributed to the NBA. All together they discovered that all
together his brand is worth $10 billion and counting. This is a tremendous feat
that is unmatched by any player in the NBA today.
I believe that Jordan will always be considered the best basketball player because he had an effect on Chicago unlike any other player in the league. No one threw out or burned his jersey when he retired or left for baseball. Fans respected his talent and who he was as an athlete and as a person. You couldn’t live in Chicago without having a love for Jordan. He will always be the king of Chicago because of everything he put into his brand.
I agree with you on the point that Jordan is not only the greatest basketball player ever but he is also a brand. When we compare the achievements a single player has made to the other players, we can find that a lot of players made bigger achievements than Jordan did- the all-time scoring leader is Kareem Jabbar, the most championships won belongs to Bill Russel, the most points scored in a single game belongs to Wilt Chamberlain, and etc.- but when people talk about who is the best player ever, the first player that comes to mind is always Michael Jordan. The reason Jordan is the greatest ever is because of his integrated achievements. Jordan made Nike come up with his own line of shoes, Air Jordan; he brought the NBA to the world. More importantly, he made everybody want to “be like Mike”.

I believe Michael Jordan has been more successful as a business man than a basketball player. I personally do not follow basketball and could not tell you one thing about Michael Jordan’s basketball career. On the other hand though, even though I do not follow Jordan, I could tell you all about his shoe and clothing line, commercials he has been in, or products he has promoted. He was everywhere and there was no way of avoiding Jordan in the business world. He found his way into almost every corner. Of course he is so popular and successful because of his basketball career but I think that his business career has far surpassed his athletic career. This is something that you do not see often with athletes.
ReplyDeleteI believe Michael Jordan is a one of a kind when it comes to being an elite athlete as well as a businessman. There are no other athletes who have built a brand for themselves the way that Jordan did. Most people know Jordan for being the best basketball player to play in the NBA but not everyone knows about how much he has participated in endorsements over the years. As you mentioned, Jordan wanted to be a part of all of his sponsorships rather than just sign a contract and collect money. This goes to show how passionate he was about everything he did and not just about basketball. He truly was a businessman and clearly knew what he was talking about if you look at the success of the Jordan brand.

I agree that Michael Jordan is one of the best basketball players to ever live. Micheal Jordan loved to play the game of basketball and was great at it. He did many great things for the Chicago Bulls, which is one reason why people adore him. People loved to watch him play the game, no matter if you are a Chicago Bulls fan or not. He played with his heart on his sleeve every game. He was truly something amazing to watch as a fan. People also loved him for the business man he was. He had several endorsements that made him more of a star. He also would dress top notch like a business man would. This is another reason why people had respect for him and loved him. Not only does he play the game he is taking it beyond that and became a business man. Micheal Jordan will always be considered to be one of the best basketball players.
