Sport is a way of life. Sport is one of the many ways for me to escape. Sport is a stress reliever for me. I experience a lot of emotions within sports. Sports are fun, fulfilling, and competitive activities. Sports bring excitement and action into my life. Seeing others as well as myself play sports and compete brings thrill and enjoyment. My favorite sport to play is volleyball, mainly because it was the first sport I was introduced to as a child. My favorite sport is basketball. Basketball allows you to compete, exercise, and enjoy it all in one. Watching professional basketball players and how skilled they are as well as watching them compete is very entertaining. My favorite basketball team is the Chicago Bulls. My favorite male, and female athletes are Jimmy Butler and Skylar Diggins. These two both carry their team on their backs and their passion for the game of basketball is genuine. An athlete I would most likely pay to see is Richard Sherman. I love his drive, his passion, and his competitiveness. He’s very courageous on and off the field and he has a very interesting, unique personality. He’s overall, a great entertainer. While taking this course, I expect to learn a lot about sport itself as well as gender itself. I expect to learn how the two relate and distinguish from one another as well as how important sports are and/or is there an actual importance in sport.

  1. A side from music, I feel like sports are also a great escape from the emotions that you endured throughout the day. The intensity that comes with playing or even watching a sport can make you forget about your entire day. Sports give people something to look forward to. For example, almost all sports fans are looking forward to the Superbowl. As the Superbowl nears, the excitement only intensifies.

I can relate to you when you said that volleyball is your favorite sport because that is what you was introduced to first. Basketball was the first sport that I was introduced to, and although I don’t play in college, I still love the sport and intensity that is involved within the sport.

Jimmy Butler is not a super start in the National Basketball Association (NBA), but a rising star instead. I thought it was interesting that you chose him to be your favorite male athlete because most people choose players with high IQ’s to be their favorite athlete. For example, one of my favorite athletes is Kobe Byrant. You don’t need to be a sports fan to know who Bryant is but you have to be a sports fan to know who Butler is.

Skylar Diggins is still fresh on the sports team. Many people (mostly males) say she is their favorite athlete because she is pretty and completely over look her skill set.

I was surprised when you said you wanted to see Richard Sherman in person and not one of your favorite athletes. But, I do agree that his passion and work ethic while playing the game makes him an exciting player to watch; he also adds a little crazy for side entertainment.
